Overview

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Sr. Social Media Strategist position will design social media strategies to achieve marketing targets, while managing, creating, publishing and distributing original, high-quality content on CHLA’s social media platforms. Develop a variety of editorial content, including short posts and long-form patient stories, as well as implement a comprehensive social media strategy aimed at patient acquisition and donor acquisition, generate day-to-day brand awareness, and partner on brand awareness and fundraising awareness campaigns. Job Functions and Duties: Develop social media strategies to achieve marketing targets and brand alignment to include cross pollination of content, video ideation, and audience growth and engagement. Individual will work with the Senior PR Strategist, Sr. Content Strategist and other members of the Marketing and Communications Department to source content that tells the story of differentiators. Create high-quality storytelling through written and multimedia outputs such as original blog posts, optimizing existing blog content, photography, social media post copy. Partner with CHLA’s content and media strategist to plan the cross-syndication of content and collaborate with writers and designers to ensure the content is informative and appealing for social channels.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 5+ years of experience developing targeted or online content marketing for a large organization, preferably health care or academic related. Experience with the launch, monitoring and updating of social media channels. Photography, digital video skills, fluency with HTML to post to blog pages and Adobe Photoshop skills and online advertising experience preferred.

Excellent multitasking skills to handle the institution’s social media accounts in a cohesive manner. Enjoy writing human interest stories, are a creative thinker and can present our brand through a unique lens that engages our multiple audiences, and drives business results. Be able to analyze data and tie social media work back to CHLA’s enterprise strategies and to provide education for internal teams on social media performance.

Education/Certification Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in journalism communications or related discipline or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.
