As Senior PR & Social Media Coordinator, you will provide critical, tactical, and strategic support for a dynamic Brand Marketing team. You will partner with the Director of Brand and Communications to tell brand stories across a variety of channels and strengthen our relationships with our target audiences.

Primary duties include:

Supporting the Director of Brand & Communications in the day-to-day management of the PR agency to ensure consistent and relevant brand messaging that positions Gas South effectively in relevant media placements

Working alongside the PR agency to secure potential media opportunities to share results from completed opportunities

Identifying opportunities for media interviews with appropriate Gas South stakeholders and coordinating the conversations and distribution alongside PR agency

Drafting copy and quotations for stakeholder approval when needed and facilitating the development of company press releases and media pitches

Supporting content development, strategy, and calendar planning for all social media platforms, including scheduling, publishing social media content, and leading community management

Establishing and tracking KPIs associated with social media performance and understanding and championing our brand voice

Analyzing metrics to inform strategy and optimization

Assisting with other marketing projects related to advertising and event coordination, as needed

Other stuff we like:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Marketing or another related field required

3-5+ years of experience and proven capabilities in a marketing, social media, or PR role

Desire to serve as an on the ground reporter at events where Gas South has a presence to build relationships, capture the stories and garner social media coverage for company, brand, and PR events

Creative storyteller with impeccable brand standards; serves as an internal influencer on the Marketing team who makes an impact on the company, and within the industry, through the production of PR and Social Media content

Strong portfolio of storytelling experience through owned and earned social media and PR with a demonstrated ability to translate complex ideas into compelling stories with an authentic brand voice

Proficient in the drafting of copy, proofreading

Meticulous, organized, and thorough in multi-tasking to prioritize and complete assignments

Creating social media videos and assets consistent with brand guidelines a plus

Expert knowledge in social media management tools with social-first production experience a plus

Good understanding of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as in basic event photography, a plus
More details on what you would be responsible for:

Public Relations

Support Director of Brand & Communications in the day-to-day management of external agency PR partners

Proactively develop and managing the annual PR plan that includes PR objectives, annual calendar, and PR event opportunities/media moments with support from PR agency and Director of Brand and Communications

Maintain and optimize the annual PR plan and related performance by leading agency and cross-functional discussions surrounding ongoing PR programming

Work closely with cross-functional Gas South team members to uncover content and Information that drives Gas South’s brand reputation and supports our desire to be a “Fuel for Good”

Implement PR programs that achieve an increase in brand sentiment and overall brand awareness

Provide PR management by crafting and facilitating the development of press releases, as well as identifying and coordinating media opportunities and interviews

Support the development of external PR communications that are consistent with brand communication plan

Align with brand and communications team members on sponsorship media opportunities for succinct and relevant brand message

Partner with PR agency to track media coverage and report coverage updates to stakeholders, including community affairs, DE&I and leadership

Keep up to date with current news/trends, pausing content and escalating to leadership where appropriate

Social Media

Develop and annual social media marketing plan and calendar that ladders up to overall brand messaging plan and enables a way to amplify our message across the owned social channels.

Manage cadence of posts and relevance of content to maximize brand reputation and enable programs to build on each other

Attend and provide social media coverage for internal and external company events, Including our community affairs, DE&I and leadership teams in addition to nonprofit and business partners

Ideate new social activations, such as content series, engagement strategies, contests, and giveaways

Leverage data to draft and submit monthly social media content calendars for approval, adhering to the editorial process while tapping into seasonally appropriate moments and trends, adding on the annual social strategy

Schedule and publish content for current or future social media channels

Conduct day-to-day monitoring of proactive and reactive posts across social media channels

Assess customer engagement and respond or redirect, as needed

Engage with fans and ensure appropriate brand voice on each social platform

Execute adherence to the company’s crisis response protocol on social channels, as needed

Develop and maintain a document with frequent questions and responses; collaborate with Customer Experience and Customer Care to escalate any complaints

Project and Asset Management

Assist to organize effective meetings and provide communications on project progress (i.e., timelines, briefs)

Protect assets through the proper saving, sharing and management of asset files

Responsible for saving records of major PR hits and social media posts for future reference


Contribute to the competitive brand assessment monthly, quarterly and annually as it relates to analyzing and measuring social media, PR and earned media results

Is our in-house expert on social platform updates and trends in social media, presenting to team members

Continuously seek ways to improve processes, recommending any tools or technology needed
