Job Summary
The Senior Associate Director of Social Media will play a pivotal role in translating the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law overall communication strategy into key initiatives for the Law School’s digital and social platforms. This role will manage all social media, creating brand-relevant content appropriate to the channel and audience. The ideal candidate must understand how to build and engage a digital audience, leveraging best practices and trends in social media marketing.
Target hiring range for this position will be between $76,196-$100,245 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Specific Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the Marketing leadership, develop and implement a comprehensive digital and social media strategy to grow the Law School’s followers, engage them in an ongoing dialogue with the Law School, deepen their brand affinity (students, alums), and advance the school’s reputation (media, academics).
- Manage the Law School’s social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other relevant channels. Identify compelling story ideas from across the Law School and create shareable content appropriate for specific channels. Ensure content is relevant and aligns with brand pillars, keeping in mind multiplatform utility, search engine optimization and optimized user experience.
- Listen and engage in relevant social discussion about the Law School, peer law schools, and the legal profession.
- Use analytics to determine the reach and impact of the Law School’s social presence and guide decisions on ways to improve user experience and increase traffic and engagement. Summarize analytics and recommendations in a monthly report to Marketing leadership.
- Explore new ways to engage target audiences digitally and via new social networks. Share trends and recommendations in a quarterly report.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
- Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
- 3- 5 years of relevant agency or client experience, developing digital strategy, managing and curating content.

- Knowledge of emerging digital / social trends.
- An ability to multitask, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a dynamic, highly decentralized environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, video, podcasting, blogging, email marketing, content management technologies, and a general comfort working with new technologies.

Work experience with a focus on brand / reputation building for clients preferred.

Basic knowledge of legal education and industry trends.
