Social Media Specialist - Publix

The Social Media Specialist is tasked to ideate and deliver authentic, engaging content that builds powerful connections with Publix’s social media followers. This position proactively drives storytelling for the brand’s social channels, identifying compelling ideas based off audience insights while working with business partners on a continual basis. Working with fellow Social Media Specialists, this role is where content ideations surface, driving content capture opportunities that ultimately result in engaging content for the brand. This role partners with multiple internal departments to drive ideation and conversation, including (but not limited to) Public Affairs, Marketing, HR, Retail Divisions, Retail Business Units (RBUs), etc. The Social Media Specialist utilizes insights-driven decision making, allowing for our Brand Advancement team to have clear KPIs and achieve our goal of cultivating the most engaged customer base in the grocery category.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Delivering authentic, engaging content that builds powerful connections with Publix’s followers
  • Proactively drive storytelling for the brand, identifying compelling ideas based off audience insights
  • Maintains content creation process from beginning to end, ensuring the process will result in content that’ll resonate with Publix’s social audience
  • Use data and insights to regularly measure impact of content, understanding the ‘why’ behind its performance
  • Coordinates social asset development opportunities by directing and/or assisting with creative partners
  • Works with video/graphic design/photography team to bring content ideas to life
  • Maintains firm understanding of Publix’s various social audiences, going beyond trends to build content based on the motivators and interests of our customers
  • Continually searches for new and exciting angles to use as ideas for social content
  • Engages with our customers, ensuring we provide premier customer service through our social channels

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Business Management, Public Relations, Mass Communication, Marketing, News Media, Journalism, or equivalent experience in any of these areas
  • at least two years in-depth, hands-on experience across multiple social media platforms
  • knowledge of different social media platforms, in terms of their functionality and their unique culture and etiquette
  • knowledge of best practices in the use of social media for creating loyal communities for brands
  • knowledge of Publix culture, business objectives, overall structure and relevant policies and processes
  • knowledge of crisis communications practices
  • strong communication skills. This includes exceptional writing and grammatical skills and a talent for composing engaging content for social media platforms
  • strong critical thinking skills to identify important trends and independently exercise sound judgment
  • demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and contribute strategic ideas
  • strong skills in technology, the ability to keep up with emerging technologies, learn quickly and teach others how to use them
  • ability to prioritize work demands amid time and resource constraints and conflicting priorities, and to respond with a sense of urgency
