Meta

  • New Collaborative Ads Local Delivery will help facilitate delivery from local businesses and brands by running options for people to order local delivery service information next to those ads.

  • Horizon Worlds will now allow you to bring friends into your new, customizable personal space which will also include interactive mini-games.

  • Meta’s new Safety Hub provides creators with education and resources around Meta’s safety tools.

Facebook

  • A few months after releasing the Instagram Reels API, Meta has now released a Facebook Reels API to allow posting of Reels from third-party apps.

  • Facebook is adding some new Creator tools to assist in Page discovery, including Creator Endorsements from fellow creators, new templates for post and stories to highlight top fans, exclusive content settings for subscribers, “Rising Creator” labels for creators with especially engaged communities, and a new composition tool for iOS users.

Twitter

  • Twitter has a post explaining Recommended Posts, including how to control them and some new improvements they’re working on.

  • Twitter was already testing prompts to add alt text to photo posts, but now it’s rolled out to everyone.

YouTube

  • YouTube is launching YouTube Shorts ads with a revenue share for creators, paying out 45% of YouTube Shorts ad money vs. 55% for regular YouTube ads, and is lowering the minimum requirements to join its partner program.

  • YouTube is testing expanding their Super Thanks creator monetization program to include Shorts.

  • YouTube’s new Creator Music feature will allow creators to use popular songs with a choice of buying a license to use the music or doing a revenue share.

  • YouTube is redesigning their new video page on desktop and mobile.

TikTok

  • TikTok’s content moderation system appears to differ for accounts above vs. below 5 million followers (with the former getting a bit more leeway).

  • TikTok’s time-sensitive BeReal copycat feature TikTok Now has been released as a separate app outside of the U.S. (in the U.S. it’s just a separate tab within the TikTok app), and is proving popular in the week-plus since its launch.

  • You can now add up to 5 guests to a TikTok Live.

  • TikTok is cracking down on political fundraising on the platform, first restricting it and soon banning it outright.

  • TikTok owner Bytedance is launching its own new VR headset called Pico as a direct competitor to Meta’s Quest.
