  • Meta has released several new features for Reels, including “Add Yours” stickers, monetizable Stars for Facebook Reels creators, the ability to cross-post Reels from Instagram to Facebook, auto-creation of Reels from Facebook Stories and memories, and new Reels insights in Creator Studio.
  • As it did in 2020, Meta is preparing for U.S. midterm elections by disabling new political ads from 12:01 AM PT on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 through 11:59 PM PT on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. This ban applies to ads dealing with social issues, elections, or politics. The company says this is to prevent spreads of last-minute misinformation at a point where it might be too late to counter it.


  • Meta has teamed up with DoorDash to deliver Facebook Marketplace items via their DoorDash Drive program, which plans to expand to include other merchant partners.

  • Want to download a Reel from Instagram (presumably to upload to another platform, like TikTok)? Hope the sound didn’t matter…because it’ll be muted!


  • Twitter Advertising has introduced a new version of Twitter Pixel, a Conversions API, and App Purchase Optimization.



  • TikTok has launched three new Shopping Ads features: Video Shopping Ads, Catalog Listing Ads, and Live Shopping Ads.

  • Much like Meta, TikTok, which already bans direct political ads, is cracking down on the “loophole” practice of paying political influencers on the platform. They’re also working to stop “…content including election misinformation, harassment—including that directed towards election workers—hateful behavior, and violent extremism,” in preparation for U.S. midterm elections this fall.

  • TikTok is jumping on the “bizarre text-generated AI imagery” bandwagon with their new AI Greenscreen effect, which generates a background image based on text prompts.

  • TikTok appears to be working on a feature to share TikTok Stories to other platforms including Facebook and Instagram.


  • Pinterest is aiming to reduce checkout friction with their new Hosted Checkout Experience, a new feature that lets shoppers choose item details and check out quickly via a Shopify integration that keeps them within the Pinterest interface. This program is rolling out in limited beta to certain Verified Merchant Program members in the U.S. who use Shopify.

  • Shopify itself is launching their new Shopify Collabs feature, which will connect participating merchants and content creators, in a limited, application-only beta in the U.S. and Canada. Influencers can connect with brands and share their product affiliate links using Shopify’s Linkpop link in bio tool.

  • Snapchat’s new Snapchat+ subscription service has launched some new features for their 1M+ subscribers including prioritized story replies, post-view emoji signatures, exclusive Bitmoji backgrounds, and custom app icons.

  • Snapchat is also offering an exclusive Bitmoji fashion collection with workwear retailer Carhartt

  • WhatsApp has launched a new Windows desktop app, with an iOS desktop app coming soon.

  • WhatsApp is also quietly testing the ability to un-delete a message.

  • Amazon is testing a TikTok-esque short-form video feed.

  • Telegram has also introduced some new features for paying Telegram Premium subscribers, including animated emoji pack uploads, interactive custom emoji effects, a new sticker & GIF interface for iOS, additional privacy settings for voice memos, and the ability to gift a Telegram Premium membership to others.

  • Canva has launched a new, free interactive Virtual Whiteboard collaboration feature.
