Your role in helping us shape the future:

U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. In this Social Media Manager position, which reports to the VP of Communications, you will have the opportunity to leverage your social media strengths and skills to help grow our audience and cultivate the U.S. News voice and brand in the marketplace.

Through daily posting to branded channels, the Social Media Manager will lead a team that will bring a social voice to U.S. News’ content, engaging readers in conversations to help them make informed decisions about their health, finances and more.

Are you up to the challenge?
We’re looking for someone who is highly creative, analytical and nimble with a growth mindset to:
Partner with the VP of Communications and the Social Media team to develop and implement social media strategies for all U.S. News verticals: Education, Health, Money, News & Events, Cars, Travel and 360 Reviews.

Distribute content across multiple platforms – including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube – designed to build audience engagement as well as leverage the platforms to drive qualified audience acquisition.

Regularly liaise with editorial, PR, product, business intelligence, events, advertising and marketing on the execution of social media strategies. This position will also interact with the general managers and executive editors of each vertical.

Guide and manage a small but mighty team of social media strategists responsible for helping create and execute our social media strategy across the various social media platforms.

Maintain and cultivate relationships with each social media platform to test new features and stay ahead of changes to best practices.

Stay abreast of the latest social media technologies and tools and identify areas for growth.

Conduct regular competitive analysis and keep track of competitors’ social media editorial strategy and engagement.

Analyze data to inform strategic decisions, set up department KPI’s and monitor and optimize how we’re tracking toward those goals.

Master analytics tools to provide valuable page performance insights for partners and internal teams.
Lead and support research projects and create materials to help internal teams better understand audience trends.

Partner with general managers and the advertising team to provide strategic direction for paid social for editorial and advertising initiatives across platforms as needed and optimize to ensure ROI goals/KPIs are met.

Work with marketing, branded content team and social media specialists to create the strategy for campaigns that deliver quality audiences from external social channels and distribution networks for branded content and other content-led advertising products.

You should definitely have:
Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience

Minimum 4 years of experience in social media/digital marketing/audience development

Strong analytical skills, with ability to drive meaningful actions from large data sets

Demonstrated experience using CPV/CPC/CPM-based business models and paid search

Knowledge and experience with analytics tools, such as Crowdtangle and Adobe Analytics/Google Analytics

Ability to flourish in a fast-paced digital environment

Knowledge of digital media trends and emerging platforms

Excellent managerial skills and experience managing teams

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong emotional intelligence

Passion for all things social and be an avid consumer of media!
