The Opportunity

The Social Media & Listening Lead role is responsible for tracking, understanding, influencing and protecting Black & Veatch’s brand reputation, ‘share of voice’, sentiment and business development across an increasingly complex ecosystem of social media forums where clients, markets, competitors, employees and other audiences are increasingly engaged. The proliferation of outlets and content being shared is resulting in the need for more focused listening and greater speed in responsiveness. The Social Media & Listening Lead will leverage Black & Veatch’s social listening and management platforms and provide effective leadership for our social media professionals in order to make these advances.

Black & Veatch’s social media and listening team must proactively execute continuous, programmatic campaigns to capture and grow digital ‘share of voice’ in key thematic areas that reinforce company strategy, brand/value proposition and employee/recruiting experience as well as meet our existing and prospective clients, in a more impactful way, where they go digitally to consume information and make critical decisions. Additionally, the social media and listening team is responsible for rapidly capturing and responding to emerging trends, misinformation and potential violations of our brand and IP.

The Team

Key Responsibilities

  • Work across Marketing as part of the Chief Client Officer organization.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork with CIO, Legal, HR, other business enabling functions and Client Sectors/Segments
  • Collaboration with Internal Communications and the integrated marketing functions
  • Ability to work with and mange third-party tool and service providers
  • Guide decisions on the use of social media and listening platforms relevant to the business and geographic reach of the company
  • Provide insights and recommendations on use of social media and listening tools, as well as paid media investments and implementation alignment with, and proactive teaming with Media and PR, and Sales Operations and Governance
  • Supervisor for a small team of social media and listening professionals

Responsible for key areas controlled by a holistic unified social media platform:

  • The Social Media & Listening Lead role within Enterprise Marketing & Communications is focused on Return on Marketing Investment, contributions to new business, cross-selling of Black & Veatch solutions and advancement of BVs brand in the market.
  • The Lead will design, conduct and deliver the company’s overarching social digital media strategy (which will play a significant role and help guide the overarching digital marketing strategy), including employee advocacy, social listening, brand, and leadership engagement
  • The leader will be responsible for hosting discovery sessions with stakeholders to understand business needs and will translate those into constructed queries that will monitor social conversation for internal teams as well as competitive brands, market and client analysis, programs, products, marketing campaigns and events.
  • This professional dives deep into the data to uncover drivers of social media activity and sentiment, then translates the data into an actionable and compelling strategic communications approach.
  • The leader will be accountable for deciphering what is important, meaningful data and then communicating the concise story in a way that allows the business to make decisions.

Included in the role are:

  • OUTBOUND - Centralized platform to post high quality curated BV marketing content to all key social media platforms and drive employee advocacy for additional re-posting and social advocacy – includes analytics on employee postings and impact on impressions and re-posts
  • INBOUND – Centralized AI-platform to manage real-time aggregation and analytics across multiple channels regarding active conversations that relate to the BV entities, markets & technologies, clients, regulations, employees etc. Data on trends, positive/negative sentiments and alerts on critical initiatives can be automated
  • PROCESS – data is leveraged within the continuous media campaigns led by Marketing – solutions, PR, events and enables a real-time response to react, iterate and adjust on responses, marketing campaigns and provide actionable insights and alerts to leadership that may impact business continuity, reputation and overall client experience with BV. Curated content is centrally administered, intuitively discoverable by all employees and optimized/updated so that it can be exploited to its maximum potential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Properly set expectations with stakeholders based on program scope, reporting schedules; and follow through on delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to transform data into a concise, compelling story.
  • Ability to synthesize information and produce insightful and accurate analysis and recommendations.
  • Highly organized and impeccable attention to detail. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver accurate reports without grammatical or data errors.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, takes ownership, self-starter and proactive attitude
  • 7 to 10 years professional experience in marketing/business analytics, statistical analysis, predictive modelling or segmentation experience setting including social listening and media for global B2B organization
  • Minimum 7 years experience in online/social analytics in a large company setting
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Good Mix of Technical Understanding, Business Sense, Managerial/Connecting and Interpersonal skills
  • Must be comfortable presenting insights to a variety of audiences
  • Strong familiarity and understanding of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blogs, Forums, Instagram, Glassdoor, and Indeed required
  • Strong strategic understanding of social listening from a business perspective
  • Experience pulling data from social media listening/analytics tools such as Sprinklr, Signal AI, Oktopost, etc.
  • Skilled user of MS Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphics, design, or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • 9+ years related experience
