Microsoft is looking for an innovative and strategic social media marketing leader to manage the high performing, creative team responsible for the @Microsoft, @MicrosoftLife, and @MicrosoftLatinx handles across multiple social media platforms. The leader will be an empathetic people manager, effective influencer, data-led decision maker, and collaborative creative partner.

As a key contributor to the Microsoft Communications organization, you will cultivate the conversational and direct relationship elements of social media to help Microsoft communicate with people around the world. The @Microsoft, @MicrosoftLife, and @MicrosoftLatinx handles showcase the breadth of Microsoft’s products, services, and initiatives and strives to show how Microsoft can empower people in their endeavors. Your ability to blend strategy, prioritization, communications experience, audience insights, understanding of human behavior, and social media expertise will help you set the course to help change perceptions and build our audience and customer base. A key aspect of this role will be to continue to strengthen Microsoft’s ability to reach a diverse set of people through social media. Experience with consumer audience development that crosses cultures and languages will be useful in this role.

You’ll coach, advise, and energize your team, peers, and leadership. A track record of effectively developing people on your team and helping nurture strengths and development areas is key. Your experience working with social media agencies and creative teams will be an element of your role that will help you and the team bring to life Microsoft’s creative vision across the @Microsoft constellation of handles.

Responsibilities
Lead a small team and tap into the diversity and strengths of each person, create a clear vision, and guide the work to build on the performance of Microsoft’s social media efforts.

Continually work with the team and peers to cultivate a positive, creative, and energetic culture.

Oversee operations, social media asset development, and crisis management.

Build and execute a connected and measurable business and communications strategy that leverages social media innovation and creative expression to deliver on communications and brand objectives.

Cultivate strategic relationships and collaborate across multi-discipline teams in marketing, communications, and business groups to help evangelize the opportunity and vision of social media as a communications vehicle.

Provide thought leadership by co-developing social media standards and practices for the company, assessing future-oriented social media technology and storytelling methods.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
6+ years social media related roles, including community management, agency management, content strategy, and/or crisis communications, or related experience AND Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
OR Related Experience

1+ year(s) people management experience
Expert-level understanding of social platforms, social media strategy, digital measurement, and social media and creative agency co-creation.

Advanced conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to partner at senior levels to design and connect strategies.

Good business judgment, exceptional communication skills and ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically

Ability to manage competing demands through strong relationship management and skilled written and verbal communications.

Preferred
10 years of experience in social media related roles, including community management, agency management, content strategy, and/or crisis communications

3+ years of managing and leading a team of full-time employees, with excellent people management and team leadership skills to hire, develop, and retain talent.
