Reporting to the Director of Brand Marketing, the Senior Manager of Social Media at Under Canvas Inc. will own and elevate our social media presence for the Under Canvas and ULUM brands; build community; amplify our earned and owned share of voice via targeted marketing and communications tactics; and drive performance using a data-driven approach to inform strategies and KPIs.

Responsible for the day-to-day digital messaging and visual representation of Under Canvas, the Senior Manager of Social Media must have experience creating and managing innovative brand content to strategically drive consideration, engagement, sales, and loyalty. He or she must be skilled at applying data and business trends to develop social media strategies across channels, and masterful in engaging storytelling, with an eye for both detail and aesthetic.

The ideal candidate will be up-to-date with the latest digital technologies, social media channels and platforms, consumer, and lifestyle brand trends. He or she will have excellent communication skills, including impeccable grammar, and be able to express our company’s positioning in a creative and impactful way. Equally important, the Senior Manager of Social Media must be able to review and analyze data and provide strategic recommendations that maximize the effectiveness of each social media channel. Both a team player and a self-starter (able to work autonomously and in a highly collaborative environment), the ideal candidate is passionate about the outdoors and has experience in hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the broader marketing team and cross-departmentally to own and elevate Under Canvas’ social media messaging, visual design, and brand positioning.
  • Develop and execute a multi-channel content calendar that supports business needs and tells the brand story to drive community engagement, growth, loyalty, booking conversions, and industry leadership (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn) with a high level of proficiency.
  • Own the social brand voice and creative: developing all Instagram Story designs, in addition to community management; with strategic, daily communications. Monitor and respond to all messages, comments, and tags across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn in a timely fashion to nurture an inclusive community through continuous dialogue and engagement.
  • Manage asset library and distribution: co-create and project manage creative asset requests and facilitate requests from other departments.
  • Identify appropriate and aesthetically appealing UGC and owned imagery—and create assets and animation that supports “on brand” and engaging messaging in line with business priorities.
  • Optimize social strategies in pursuit of best-in-class results—by testing frequency, timing, messaging, and content type—and own and manage reporting/analytics to measure success and learnings.
  • Plan and execute promotions and giveaways in line with business and brand objectives.
  • Anticipate and be “out front” of messaging that supports business needs and seasonal messaging that is relevant, engaging, and timely.
  • Create paid social assets, managing graphic design and copy on paid social projects as needed.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Digital Marketing to better inform the guest journey by diving into data sets to identify trends in behavior and make recommendations accordingly, while ensuring that organic, paid social, email marketing, as well as other digital efforts are cohesive and aligned.
  • Generate monthly reporting per channel inclusive of top performing posts, impressions, engagement rates, click through rates, highest-performing days and times, etc. in addition to appropriately tagging and tracking each post to lend insight into the guest journey.
  • Use knowledge of best practices by channel and identify new trends and technologies to help evolve social media strategy and grow channels.
  • Seek out and elevate strategic partnership opportunities with key social platforms to deliver on brand and business goals.
  • Manage the in-house influencer program – including identifying goal influencers, outreach, vetting in-bound requests, negotiating deliverables, and agreement development – to build brand awareness and word-of-mouth, while curating content to use on brand social channels.
  • Develop measurable KPI’s and annual targets across all managed efforts, tracking and optimizing to achieve and exceed business goals, in a data-driven way. Analyze on a regular cadence and use to inform optimizations.
  • Provide ad hoc Brand Marketing support, as requested, for the magazine, photo and video shoot prep, marketing signage and collateral, etc.
  • Exercise impeccable attention to detail, with an eagle eye for catching errors (spelling, grammar, dates, locations, pricing, etc.).
  • Be a team player! Proactively and conscientiously identify areas of opportunity across the marketing team and business. Embrace cross-departmental efforts.
  • Support CMO, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, ideally Marketing and/or Journalism
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience; hospitality and/or travel industry experience preferred
  • Experience in building creative and data-driven brand marketing strategies and campaigns
  • Experienced and extremely proficient is using Canva and Sprout Social
  • Engaging, creative, and strategic writing skills within brand voice/style
  • Proficiency in digital photography, video editing, creative design, and content management
  • Knowledge and understanding of social giveaways, influencer marketing, and content usage rights
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and through people to achieve results
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including highly developed presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional attitude
  • MS Office, Google Apps, WordPress proficient
  • Additional skills - Creative eye/skills, Canva, Photoshop, Sprout, Bitly, Linktree, Upfluence, and/or other social media and influencer assessment tools, content creation, photo editing, analytics, organizational skills, ruthless prioritization, multi-tasking.

Based in Denver. Hybrid model; partial in-office, partial remote.
