The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Region Social Media Marketing Manager within our Western States Region. This is a home-office based position with location flexible to Western States Region (Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington). The ideal candidate must have the ability to travel as necessary, including occasional daylong or overnight business trips within the Western States Region.

Responsibilities
Maintains the integrity of the brand and identity of the American Heart Association by developing and/or reviewing/editing communications and marketing materials.

Social/Digital Media

  • Utilize design tools, such as Canva, Animoto, or Adobe, needed to create social content (especially video) or other assets in support of directors, as needed.
  • Identify and curate content/assets from multiple sources, including team members, existing templates, existing resources from National. Provide guidance to Communication Directors on event promotion, including specific assets and usage guidelines. Identify gaps in content and create/curate to close gaps.
  • Create a monthly editorial calendar by curating relevant internal and external content. Collaborate with directors and other parties to ensure a mix of posts and a strategic cadence on all platforms.
  • Work towards maximizing the use of the Sprinklr platform for:
  • Reporting, publishing, and advertising purposes
  • Utilizing its tools to manage digital assets and ensure access for directors
  • Community management, including the use of listening tools
  • Post specific content (e.g., direct response campaign, National Wear Red Day countdown, Western States messages, such as board announcements) as well as evergreen messaging to state social media pages.
  • Provide social media vacancy coverage as needed.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Oversee the progress trackers for media to ensure directors remain on track to meet quarterly and annual goals. Provide progression snapshots for all individuals, across all platforms, by month, quarter, and year.
  • Oversee the progress trackers for social media (Sprinklr) to ensure directors remain on track to meet quarterly and annual goals.
  • As needed, participate in monthly gap to goal meetings to provide progression snapshots for all individuals, across all platforms, by month and year. (monthly responsibility)
  • Develop the monthly responsibility media dashboard by compiling monthly data points, highlighting top performers and biggest wins and providing a team progress-to-goal update. (monthly responsibility)
  • Oversee ASCAP/BMI reporting process for Region. (quarterly responsibility)

Internal Communications/Intranet Management

  • Serve as lead for department SharePoint pages and Western States SharePoint homepage
  • Assist with internal communications projects such as community values documents (significant annual project), mini stories on SharePoint, rotation for internal weekly newsletter.

Website Coordination

  • Oversee the uploading of press releases to local newsroom, including meta tagging, platform photo editing, scheduling publication and serving as the liaison to the national newsroom team for updates and other edits.
  • Apply general web best practices to advise on refreshing local division pages, review new landing pages and assist, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience that includes:
  • Knowledge of variety of mass, alternative and digital media, writing and editing.
  • Experience in digital media, communications, or marketing with a background in public relations, marketing, advertising or similar position.
  • Knowledge and experience with the fundamentals of multiple disciplines are needed, including the principles and ethics of digital media, public relations, promotion, marketing and business communications.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written communications skills, especially for online properties and social media.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and work with all levels of AHA volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to deal professionally in a corporate and non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding communications and marketing projects and programs through completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to plan and act independently on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and reason through problems to workable solutions in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree may be preferred in supporting the required level of skill, knowledge and experience required.
  • Knowledge of basic fund-raising principles, practices, and techniques
  • Knowledge of American Heart Association’s mission and programs
