University Information Services (UIS) provides technical services and enterprise applications to the University of Colorado’s (CU) four campuses and the Office of the President. UIS is committed to excellence in customer service, technical expertise, and the development of enterprise applications responsible for supporting CU’s students, faculty, staff, and others.

Position Summary

CU Student IT Services (CU-SIS) supports CU’s catalog of enterprise student application products and services which serve potential students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff at all four campuses and System, and over 67,000 active students. Components include Admissions, Campus Community, Customer Relationship Management, Degree Audit & Transfer Credit, Financial Aid, International Student & Scholar Management, Student Financials, Student Records, and Online Education.

The Marketing and Social Media Lead is responsible for planning, development and implementation of strategic marketing initiatives and social media content, including media placement and planning for CU Online. The position’s main objective is to assist in the creation of innovative and compelling marketing and social media campaigns that will drive enrollment in a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees and programs.

This position reports to the Director of Creative Services and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classification system.

Duties And Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Marketing

  • Develop new strategies/enhancements for program positioning, value proposition and unique selling propositions to various market segments
  • Liaise with clients on all marketing obstacles and provide regular reporting and updates to clients, including following up on all projects, initiatives and action items
  • Foster the development of innovative marketing solutions tailored to the CU brand and program characteristics
  • Develop quarterly or marketing campaign reports for management, and regularly report results of campaigns/starts to senior management and internal clients
  • Develop/suggest enhancements and improvements to marketing materials (website, banner, directory copy, email, landing pages, brochure, e-newsletter, print, tradeshow/conference, whitepaper, podcast, webinar and demos) with the goal of increasing lead generation volume and media effectiveness
  • Act as final quality control for copy/content/design for selected projects.
  • Obtain competitive pricing and provide estimates from vendors for projects; enter all purchase order requisitions, authorize and process invoices for payment
  • Engage in monthly audits to validate marketing materials, messages and placements for quality and accuracy
  • Coordinate and collaborate with paid search vendor on lead generation efforts, working to find new sources and methods for enhancing lead generation efforts.
  • Jointly own all related marketing & media deliverables and work together to ensure that all timelines and objectives are met

Social Media

  • Develop innovative and relevant media content across social media platforms. This includes working closely with graphic designers and web content managers to ensure a cohesive social media identity.
  • Understand the goal, audience, and message of a campaign and be able to develop strategies to increase fan base, engagement and sharing on social platforms.
  • Create compelling content including thought leadership and community stories that engage targeted audiences and support prospects’ journey to conversion
  • Support development of images, infographics and other rich media
  • Assist in the management of the editorial guidelines so content is consistent with CU Online brand voice, style and tone
  • Assist in the management of editorial calendar and organization workflows
  • Monitor social media groups, trends, tools, and applications and recommend actions based on the insights gained
  • Setup daily tasks and activity for all social media outlets
  • Monitor and engage in select online conversations, working to transform visitors into advocates.
  • Respond to social media inquiries in a timely and courteous fashion
  • Communicate and assist in leading a group of student social media ambassadors to gather user-generated content and increase the reach of the CU brand through influencers
  • Track and report on secured media coverage and overall conversion rates
  • Jointly own all related marketing & media deliverables and work together to ensure that all timelines and objectives are met

What We Offer

Salary: The anticipated hiring range has been established at $75,000 - $85,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum Qualifications

Please ensure your resume includes any and all relevant experience to be accurately assessed against these qualifications. You must meet all minimum requirements listed at the time of application to be considered for this role.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in marketing, public or media relations, advertising, business, communications, journalism or field of study directly related to the work assignment. This can be substituted on a year-for-year basis with directly related experience.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in marketing campaign management including:
  • Social media marketing and web content experience
  • Experience managing a marketing and/or social media budget

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years’ experience as detailed above
  • One (1) year of experience in a team lead or supervisory role, which may include assigning and reviewing the work of others, providing guidance to internal and external team members, and/or assisting management with performance reviews
  • Experience in higher education marketing
  • Experience with online program marketing
  • Experience with marketing project management
  • Experience with copywriting/editing preferred
  • Experience with social media management software and social analytics
  • Experience with Google Analytics and online marketing tools and practices
