We’re seeking an experienced social media leader to creatively and analytically bring the Lyft brand to life online with a strategic vision. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in team leadership, strategy setting, and implementing unique ideas to grow audiences and brand affinity, while staying attuned to internet culture.

As the Head of Social Media, you will spearhead proactive social strategies and campaigns across multiple brand channels, including TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and more. Working closely and cross-functionally with top creatives and managing agency partners, you’ll continue to build up Lyft’s social media presence, overseeing content strategy, creative development, and influencer collaborations. Your focus will be on organically fostering brand love and generating earned media traction through social media moments. Responsibilities:

  • Set the vision and manage overall content strategy and performance for Lyft’s official social media channels, continuously innovating with new formats and platforms.
  • Guide the strategic development of social media campaigns and assets, ranging from daily posts to weekly launches, monthly/quarterly concepts, and social-first content series (e.g., Lucky Lyft), and influencer/creator collaborations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and executive leadership, creative teams, product teams, and external partners to execute social-specific content and campaigns to support brand and company goals.
  • Act as a champion for data, audience insights and platform behavior shifts. Share quarterly dashboards, best practices, and recap reports with executives and stakeholders to demonstrate channel health, community engagement, and test-and-learn opportunities.
  • Drive improvements in processes, tools, and resources for effective social strategy, and creative output utilizing data and insights.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in building and shaping the social media presence of national brands, both on the brand and agency sides and experience in people management.
  • Expert knowledge of social media strategies, platforms, influencer/creator trends, creative best practices, and scrappy production techniques.
  • Deep understanding of internet culture and a constant awareness of platform updates and trends.
  • Ability to navigate crises that arise on social media.
  • Thrive in speed and agility, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Demonstrated portfolio or case study work showcasing culturally-relevant social-first campaigns that drove community growth, built social channels/following.
  • Proven success working on brands at different levels of social media maturity.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and persuasive presentation skills, especially with C-suite leadership. Demonstrable soft skills such as creativity, empathy, adaptability, resourcefulness, openness to feedback, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
  • Experience leading and managing teams, fostering a fun and inclusive culture, and being a collaborative team player in a matrixed organization.

Starting in September 2023, this role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

The expected range of pay for this position in the San Francisco, CA area is $207,000- $230,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
