Offering to meet a prospective new client for no charge for an initial meeting.

It’s not a particularly new idea or one that I can claim any credit for, however meeting up for a coffee and going online with WiFi to demonstrate stuff or look at accounts/websites etc, seem to relax the prospective client and give you time to demonstrate your skills, knowledge and experience. And also demonstrate that you’re a nice person to work with :sunglasses: :+1:

Providing you avoid timewasters or tyre kickers, I’ve been using this technique for years and it always seems the best way to gain new clients at a relatively low cost, i.e. one hour of your time and buying some coffee.

This is such a great question!
The main ways we get clients now is primarily back end because the agency is a backend offer for my personal brand. Many of our clients learn how to do social on their own (which we want them to know) and then decide to outsource it.

We also get clients from speaking engagements, referrals, and LinkedIn

As a consultancy, sharing our proven templates, accompanied by meaty how-to posts, and sharing them on social have been our best new client source over the past year. I think showing our work in this way appeals to leaders who want to ensure the external content strategy resources they engage with have a defined process and a methodology behind their work—not just a pretty PowerPoint deck.

This is freaking awesome! I love the idea of connecting with people while providing them some free food. How often do you have your breakfasts?

That is amazing! How are you using LinkedIn to get more clients?

Thanks! We tend to do them once every 4 months or so

What’s worked for me is connecting with similar collaborators. No competition here! No two freelancers or agencies are the same so there is plenty of room to connect. Here ideas can be passed around and so can projects who may fit one individual more over another.

I love this! That one-on-one connection goes a long way. I know for my agency, when we meet with people we see a much higher conversion rate than when we connect with them over email.

Do you have a favorite spot to meet with people? I have two or three coffee shops that I love to take people to!

Hi Jeffrey

I’m glad you agree to the free coffee meeting routine. Not original as I said, but it has always worked for me.

Like you, I have two or three places which I favour and also which I know my clients will like. Which is important.

Shoutouts to CuKu, Peckhams and Eusebi Deli - all in the West End of Glasgow.

Hello fellow agency owners and social media marketers,
Giving a free social media audit report followed by a free consulting call.
This is working pretty well for our agency to gain more clients.
